A Wine Cellar at Home

Aug 31st, 2010 Posted in Storage | no comment »

Wine is a drink that has the preference of many people, who like to stock up on a good selection of it. But the storage of wine requires some care so that it reaches the table in the best conditions. This is where you want to keep the wine for some time, if taken immediately; the kitchen is a good place to save it.

The care of wines requires a range of storage conditions that we must obey in order to preserve their properties be kept in the dark, because light can cause oxidation or deterioration. The storage temperature should not exceed 18 º C. It should be stored horizontally so the cork is kept damp at all times, without breaking and thus facilitating the smooth passage of oxygen. Because of all these factors, it is advisable to store the wines in the refrigerator or the kitchen, it is not the best option, keep them in a special refrigerator in which they are sold, but we can build a warehouse in our own home.

Our warehouse does not have to be large or occupy the basement, but we can do it under a ladder, in a small room in use, or in a cupboard acclimated. But if you have a basement, it’s much better. We must also bear in mind that the winery should be colorful and decorative; it can not ruin the decoration of the house.

Winery Features:

For the preservation of wines, the winery must take into account the temperature, humidity, darkness, lack of odor impregnating or intense, and the rest of the wines. For these conditions, the most appropriate place to locate the store will be underground or semi-buried. It can never be a garage or a workshop, due to the presence of odors and vibrations that occur at these sites.

This may not seem an important detail, the orientation of the cave is. The ideal orientation is the north and the sun does not directly impact the temperature changes involved, and the worst is its opposite, south. The ideal place is underground or semi-buried. The ventilation is very important too, can be achieved through a duct to the outside or through a shunt. The walls must make a perfect thermal and acoustic insulation. The interior walls should be painted white and covered with cement plaster and yodel. Insulation systems are applied that may be of fiberglass or polyurethane foam. The soil must have hygrometric properties, so it is advisable to do so with a material capable of absorbing moisture, such as porous ceramic tiles. But the ideals are rammed earth and sand. This type of champagne is very difficult to achieve due to cost and space requirements.

For a winery located in an apartment, avoid the kitchen, the dining room or living room due to odors, temperature and noise. Therefore we will select an interior room or hallway, where we will build a small bottle with insulation.

Our warehouse must maintain certain storage conditions:
- Stable temperature between 10 and 15 º C.
- The daily fluctuation of the temperature should not exceed 2 ° C.
- The relative humidity should be in the vicinity of 70%.
- The bottles are stored horizontally.
- The racks should be wood or materials not conduct heat.
- The light should be avoided by using carbon-filament lamps or indirect cold lights.
- There should be no foreign odors such as paint, fruit, cooking odors, sausage, etc.
- Avoid noise and vibration damage for wines.
- It is necessary to air and ventilate the place where wines are stored.

We must remember that white wines in general, pink, the champagne and sparkling wines, fine wines and chamomile, young wines and some reds, can not be stored for more than a year, because his life is short. Reserve wines are those that reach the greatest length and can reach twenty.

Atlanta Falcons Make Fall Season Enjoyable

Aug 26th, 2010 Posted in Home Entertainment | no comment »

I love the month of August. I get this feeling of excitement and I tend to smile a little more. I am gearing up for the fall sport watching season on my directv channels in North Carolina. My husband and I are staunch supporters of the Atlanta Falcons football team. Our three small children can name players on the team. They also enjoy jumping up and down when our team scores a touchdown or gets an interception. My youngest son has been walking around carrying his football for the past week. Every even when my husband comes home from work and tosses the ball with him. We love hosting Sunday night football parties at our house. We send the kids to bed a little early and then we have a great time cheering on our favorite team. It is nice to be able to share the love of the game with friends and family. My husband and I buy new Falcon’s jerseys every year. We are excited to see what Matt Ryan and Michael Turner are going to do about taking our team all the way to the Superbowl. If the entire team can stay healthy this year, we will definitely make the playoffs.

Furniture on Wheels

Aug 24th, 2010 Posted in Furniture | no comment »

A few years ago, not so many, the success of a good home was to opt for solid wood furniture that is set into the wall and were prepared as in many cases. This is getting corseted environments in which the decoration of the dining room, commonly, it revolved around furniture that went from floor to ceiling. Today, these units still exist but are becoming less common and wood, in most cases leads to materials such as plasterboard.

But the decoration is being increasingly adapted to the consumer who demands a functional house that could be modified and adapted to any situation. Sofas that stretch became beds, tables that stick to the wall to make room for a party, portable TVs that let you change the movie theater to another room or containers that are grouped or split to our taste for all these cases what is the most comfortable? for without doubt the most convenient for situations where you need a mobile decoration is to opt for furniture with wheels.

The wheels can now easily buy and apply to all furniture, but we also have a wide range of designs that can be found in stores with the wheels and integrated. Or the basis for pots or planters fitted with wheels, ideal for the silver of great weight or size.

Do not lose sight of this type of furniture, because besides being very functional, it also allow us to create a mobile decoration that helps to adapt our home to different situations that occur in it.

Aug 23rd, 2010 Posted in Furniture | no comment »

Times of change, uncertainty and economic recession are times that are not nothing wrong with decoration, because lack of money are good ideas, and it is in these situations where the imagination begins to create original pieces of recycling and economic as , which is impossible to stop creating.

Until a few years, not many, collecting furniture and recycle trash looked pretty crappy, but today, however, this has become a hobby. Parts of a car, antique chairs, tables without a leg … any item that is minimally full and we offer a service which we lack now is a good option.

And once collected and brought home what? Well this is where the most interesting part begins: the reconstruction of furniture and customizing it to integrate the environment in your home or business.

Have you noticed that in tiny shops or showrooms of clothing or accessories have opted to seek original furniture in the trash? And although they have different styles, have been standardized by giving them the same painting or similar finish. This idea also for businesses is also very interesting for low budget rooms for small or home offices.

If you want to renovate your home but do not have much money, you know, join the rush looking for recycling or restoring furniture or objects that can be converted into something useful.
