Small Garden Sheds, an excellent way to give you more Storage Space without much costs

May 2nd, 2011 Posted in Storage | no comment »

Small garden sheds are an excellent way of giving yourself more storage space without much costs. Small storage sheds can mean anything from a shed just big enough to store a few gardening tools, or big enough to store tools and a bike or two.

The beauty of sheds is that you can easily fit one into any sized garden and they can provide you with an excellent storage facility. A good shed shouldn’t be underestimated as a storage solution, you can build your own shed or buy a ready made one suitable for your own needs.

Building a garden shed is not a difficult task and is well within the skill levels of most people. As long as you can follow a good plan you shouldn’t have too much trouble building one. You can buy a simple one for a reasonable price and add on to it.

For example you could buy a basic design and strengthen it in certain places to build hangings for bikes. By getting bikes off the floor you leave yourself more room for storage.

This is one way to go, the disadvantage of this method is the initial cost of buying it.. They can be pretty expensive for a bit of flimsy wood which is what most small sheds are constructed from. Sheds are an overlooked method of storage. For some reason most people don’t consider them when they are thinking of solutions to their storage problems. This is a shame.

I’ve seen some fantastic small storage sheds that people have made and which have provided them with a super little storage system. You’d be surprised what you can get into a well-constructed and designed shed. If you make it yourself you can design it to hold a lot of items like bikes for example.

By placing shelves and wall hangings you can really utilize a small shed into a major storage area. The old shed my granddad used to have, which I remember being crammed with tools and the smell of paint from old paint tins scattered about are a thing of the past.

A modern garden shed, utilizing the latest storage devices, which you can easily build into your shed can provide an amazing amount of storage. If you’ve never considered small sheds as a source of storage think again. You could be missing out on a great solution to your storage problems.

Tips on How to Get Extra Storage in Your Bathroom

Oct 27th, 2010 Posted in Bathroom | no comment »

Most bathrooms are quite small with little floor space available to add additional storage for linen or personal items. Due to the fact of having such little storage space, you need to try and use the space that is available to you.

If you have a very small bathroom, you may think that there is absolutely no room for at all for bathroom furniture, but this is where you are wrong. Most bathrooms have wasted space underneath the sink where you can install a vanity unit. Bathroom vanities vary in sizes and many manufacturers cater for small bathrooms all the way up to larger bathrooms. So, you should be able to find a vanity unit that fits under your sink. The great benefits of having a vanity installed in the bathrooms is the amount of extra storage available to you. Most vanities will be fitted with two shelves, providing you with valuable storage space for your towels and linen. You can also use the bottom shelf to store bathroom cleaning items or perhaps even your own personal items.

Most bathroom vanities will come with a single door without a set of drawers. As the pipes from the taps are just below the sink, it makes it impossible to have a drawer at the top of the unit.

When you look for a vanity, make sure that the materials used are with able to withstand the humidity within the bathroom. As the bathroom fluctuates in temperature and moisture, you need furniture that can withstand these changes. Otherwise if your furniture is made from wood, it will start to rot and crack. On the other hand, if the furniture is made from metal, or perhaps parts are made from metal, they will start to rust. If rust should start to come into contact with the floor or walls, it stains and is quite difficult to remove.

One final note to make is that you need to make sure that the vanity will fit around the sink. So, make sure that you have made your measurements correctly before making a purchase. You can actually buy a vanity unit with a built in sink. The advantage of this is that you know the sink will fit perfectly into the vanity unit, and both the sink and vanity will match in color. Fitting would take more effort and you probably would have to bring in the services of a plumber as well.

How to Create a Good Wine Storage

Oct 21st, 2010 Posted in Storage | no comment »

We all like to make the most of bargains we can get while away on holiday. Wine, one of life’s true pleasures, is one of our most favourite items to bring back. With the cost of a bottle of wine in England soaring (Tax hikes have led to the average price of a bottle of wine increasing considerably) it makes senses to bring back a bottle or two from your travels… Once you get back home, however, your new found love needs a good home (unless, of course, you plan to drink it all at once) and there are several key factors that contribute to good storage of wine. Elements such as temperature, light and vibration are all very important to ensure your favourite tipple does not turn into nasty plonk. Whenever you decide to have that dinner party to tell friends about your fantastic holiday, you can ensure that the wine will taste just as brilliant as when you bought it.

Wine storage is essential to the success of any good collection. If you enjoy collecting fine wines, from any country, then storage options are a top priority. Consistency is the most important aspect of this, as temperature needs to remain at a constant 50-60 degrees. There should also be plenty of ventilation of the area and the wine storage should be far away from the main area of the house. You do not want to have your wine collection suffering due to too much vibration and you need to keep any source of light to a minimum. If you plan to store 5000 bottles of wine or more you might consider either renting space, building a wine room or using temperature controlled self-storage units as this will be the best way to ensure your collection lasts the distance.

A Wine Cellar at Home

Aug 31st, 2010 Posted in Storage | no comment »

Wine is a drink that has the preference of many people, who like to stock up on a good selection of it. But the storage of wine requires some care so that it reaches the table in the best conditions. This is where you want to keep the wine for some time, if taken immediately; the kitchen is a good place to save it.

The care of wines requires a range of storage conditions that we must obey in order to preserve their properties be kept in the dark, because light can cause oxidation or deterioration. The storage temperature should not exceed 18 º C. It should be stored horizontally so the cork is kept damp at all times, without breaking and thus facilitating the smooth passage of oxygen. Because of all these factors, it is advisable to store the wines in the refrigerator or the kitchen, it is not the best option, keep them in a special refrigerator in which they are sold, but we can build a warehouse in our own home.

Our warehouse does not have to be large or occupy the basement, but we can do it under a ladder, in a small room in use, or in a cupboard acclimated. But if you have a basement, it’s much better. We must also bear in mind that the winery should be colorful and decorative; it can not ruin the decoration of the house.

Winery Features:

For the preservation of wines, the winery must take into account the temperature, humidity, darkness, lack of odor impregnating or intense, and the rest of the wines. For these conditions, the most appropriate place to locate the store will be underground or semi-buried. It can never be a garage or a workshop, due to the presence of odors and vibrations that occur at these sites.

This may not seem an important detail, the orientation of the cave is. The ideal orientation is the north and the sun does not directly impact the temperature changes involved, and the worst is its opposite, south. The ideal place is underground or semi-buried. The ventilation is very important too, can be achieved through a duct to the outside or through a shunt. The walls must make a perfect thermal and acoustic insulation. The interior walls should be painted white and covered with cement plaster and yodel. Insulation systems are applied that may be of fiberglass or polyurethane foam. The soil must have hygrometric properties, so it is advisable to do so with a material capable of absorbing moisture, such as porous ceramic tiles. But the ideals are rammed earth and sand. This type of champagne is very difficult to achieve due to cost and space requirements.

For a winery located in an apartment, avoid the kitchen, the dining room or living room due to odors, temperature and noise. Therefore we will select an interior room or hallway, where we will build a small bottle with insulation.

Our warehouse must maintain certain storage conditions:
- Stable temperature between 10 and 15 º C.
- The daily fluctuation of the temperature should not exceed 2 ° C.
- The relative humidity should be in the vicinity of 70%.
- The bottles are stored horizontally.
- The racks should be wood or materials not conduct heat.
- The light should be avoided by using carbon-filament lamps or indirect cold lights.
- There should be no foreign odors such as paint, fruit, cooking odors, sausage, etc.
- Avoid noise and vibration damage for wines.
- It is necessary to air and ventilate the place where wines are stored.

We must remember that white wines in general, pink, the champagne and sparkling wines, fine wines and chamomile, young wines and some reds, can not be stored for more than a year, because his life is short. Reserve wines are those that reach the greatest length and can reach twenty.

The tables with drawers or shelves allow other storage options.

Libraries and cupboards with or without doors may be appropriate for living rooms, home office, kitchen or bedroom. Purchase these items are a great investment and can be used for various purposes.
